Terence Hogan (1955-1961)

"I so often think about my days at Richmond Rd that it's difficult to
know where to start, except to say that those memories are rich and
varied and recall a time of much happiness and continuing interest to
me. I was fortunate enough to be Head Boy Prefect in 1961 and in fact
came across the badge again just the other day.
I've been reading ""Urban Village"", the excellent history of Ponsonby
and Freemans Bay by Jenny Carlyon and Diana Morrow and it was this
that prompted me look up the school website, which for some reason had
not occurred to me to do before.
I was a contemporary of Bryan Williams who I played football with not
only at Richmond Road but for the Ponsonby Club junior grades as well.
Reading his memories on here has jogged a few of my own that had faded
a little, although many others remain very clear to me. I'll take some
time to gather my thoughts on all this and get back to you with a
fuller contribution.
In the 1961 F1-2A class photo that's me at the far left, second row
from the top in the blue & black striped jersey."

"I attended Hamilton Boys High and then returned to Auckland and to
University for three years. I became very involved in the Auckland
music scene in the mid and late 70s. I went to live in Melbourne in
1981 where I developed a career as a graphic designer and ended up
working in Europe in the late 90s. I am now back in Melbourne as a
freelance designer and have for some years been exhibiting my
photography as well.
I visit my parents in Hamilton once or twice a year and always linger
in Auckland for two or three days where I have so many people to catch
up with. I sometimes stay with friends in Sackville St or Hakanoa St
and if I have the opportunity I will try and visit the school again
soon.
Regards.

Jenny Bennett (2004-2006) Teacher

I taught Ruma 8, year 5/6 in Kiwi Connection and absolutely loved it!
My son attended Te Kohanga Reo and Te Whaanau Whariki until he was
year 3. Many memories of fantastic school productions, loads of
hysterics in the staffroom, and a sense of family.

Teaching in the UK, just out of London and raising Jett as a pom!
