Hi Everyone,
As we head into the second and final sprint of Phase 1: Code Coverage Review, of the Fedora Dependency Upgrade Project, we are seeking community contributors to participate in this focused, time-limited effort. The sprint will run from April 28 - May 9.
Finishing Code Coverage Review
As a community, our goal is to increase code coverage for fcrepo-core to 80%, or as close to that as possible, across the repository. At the completion of this sprint, we will commit all updates and transition to the next phase of the project - addressing the dependency libraries to be upgraded.
We need your help to ensure we have a robust test suite before moving on to the dependency upgrades. We need individuals with experience in code coverage review, as well as anyone with experience writing unit and integration tests. All levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.
To Join Us:
Details on getting started can be found on the Fedora wiki - Guide for New Developers.
We will be checking in during the weekly Tech Meeting (Thursdays @ 11 AM ET). But async contributions are welcome! Find us on Slack for any questions.
This upgrade project has been identified by the community as a high priority task as a means of increasing the security and lowering the risk of vulnerability of Fedora and the components contained within. As a result, while the Technical and Committer teams focus their attention on this project, feature requests will be deprioritized until the work is complete. High risk bugs, and critical issues will still be addressed as needs arise.
If you, or any members of your team are able to support any of this work, we would encourage you to reach out to the Fedora Program Manager (arran.g...@lyrasis.org) or the Program Developer (dan....@lyrasis.org). Full project details are avai;able on the Fedora wiki, under Development, or on the fcrepo GitHub Project Board. The faster we are able to complete the critical project, the sooner we can resume regular community-led development and support. Many hands make light work.
We look forward to charging ahead, giving you a more secure, robust and modernized Fedora.
Cheers,
Arran
