Hello,
We are writing today to share some exciting news! This past June, the Fedora Program welcomed a new member to our Membership Program – Cambridge University Library. We are thrilled to welcome them as Bronze level members, and further expand Fedora’s global membership network. Cambridge University Library’s commitment to the support of open source projects, like Fedora, will provide the financial sustainability needed to secure Fedora’s community roadmap for the future. Cambridge University Library stands among other academic leaders, pledging their commitment to open source and open access.
While new to the membership program, contributions from Cambridge University Library are not! John Gostick, Technical Lead for Digital Preservation at the Library, has been an active community member for several years, and is currently serving his 2nd year as a member of Fedora Governance.
As part of his active involvement in the Fedora Community, John collaborated on a blog post sharing how they developed their repository ecosystem, and how they are taking advantage of the features and benefits of Fedora 6.x. You can read the blog post here: https://fedorarepository.org/fedora-6-implementations-cambridge-university-library/
“From what I’ve seen, there seems to be a lot of excellent resources/tooling and support available for those that are migrating from F3. We’ve still got a way to go on our own journey, but Fedora (6) has proven to be an excellent choice to meet our requirements and has stood up well to everything we’ve thrown at it so far!” - John Gostick
Cambridge University Library sets a great example for community contribution. It is through their generous contribution that the Fedora Program is able to continue serving its global community. But we can’t do it alone. We need you. Now, more than ever, advocacy for open source software as critical infrastructure is necessary to ensure the future sustainability of the technology you rely on. We urge you to consider how you can contribute to Fedora, the technology and our community of users.
