Hey All,

I hope your week is off to a good start. Today I am extremely excited to re-start our blog series on Fedora implementations. In this first post of 2026, we are looking at implementations from the perspective of one of our wonderful community-focused service providers - Digirati.

In this post, Tom Crane (Technology Director at Digirati) shares insights from Digirati’s work on the Digital Library Infrastructure Project with the University of Leeds Libraries. Here we explore why Fedora was selected as the foundation for the implementation, how the OCFL-based architecture supports open, standards-driven preservation and delivery, and how Fedora fits into a broader ecosystem that includes IIIF and Linked Art.

This use case is a prime example of how Fedora is being used in practice as part of a wider digital infrastructure supporting preservation best practices. We invite you to read on here:

A big thank you to Tom and the Digirati team for sharing their experience and continuing to engage with the Fedora community.

If you’re using Fedora and would be interested in sharing your own implementation story, I’d love to hear from you! These stories are an invaluable resource for others in the community.

Cheers,
Arran Griffith
