Hello Everyone,

As the end of 2023 approaches, we want to thank each and every one of you for your continued commitment to Fedora and our community. Fedora 6.x adoption is increasing and we are learning about new users spinning up brand new instances or undertaking migration efforts. This is an exciting time to be a part of Fedora and we look forward to what the future will bring.

As part of that future, many of you may have remembered participating in the Technology Information Gathering Sessions we held in the early Spring. From these sessions we gained valuable insight into strategic areas of focus we would like to prioritize as we seek to build our community-led roadmap for the future.

Now we need your input. We have prepared a brief survey to help us understand what priorities you feel the community needs to focus on and what resources you, as an individual, or your institution has to help make these ideas a reality. This survey will provide guidance and help us structure our efforts over the next 12-24 months.

The survey should take no more than 6-8 mins and should be completed in one sitting. We are encouraging participation from everyone, at all levels.

To complete the survey simply use this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZRDBDNP

We thank you in advance for your time. Your dedication to Fedora and this community is the reason we have seen such great success and we look forward to continuing this forward momentum into 2024!

Cheers,

Arran

Hi There,

This is a reminder before the holidays about the Fedora Technology Future Survey that is open. We are encouraging participation from everyone as we intend to use the outcomes of this survey to help build our community-led roadmap for Fedora’s future.

We have received some feedback about completing the resources and commitment section of the survey so wanted to provide some clarification:

  • The intended purpose is to understand what capacity you may have to engage in any of the outlined projects in the coming 12-24 months. We recognize that it is possibly hard to estimate that far in to the future with many competing priorities, so we are asking for your best estimate.
  • Understanding what resources are available within the community will allow us to more effectively place timelines on the proposed work so we can plan accordingly.
  • The questions in these section are in 2 independent parts – intended possibly for different audiences.
    • The first set of responses is for individuals who may be able to commit time individually on behalf of their institution
    • The second set of responses is for those who are not directly involved with the technology or community, but may have staff under their supervision who are able to contribute to these proposed projects. You would be letting us know as an institution what capacity you have to engage in this way.

I hope this helps. As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always available. I am hoping we will see strong responses to our survey and can use this information to guide our future efforts for the greater good of the entire Fedora community!
