This is a reminder about SMIG’s upcoming roundtable discussion on Metadata for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on Tuesday, January 25th, 2-3pm Eastern. If you are interested in sharing your work, please email Nora Zimmerman (zimm...@lafayette.edu) and Anna Goslen (gos...@email.unc.edu), SMIG co-facilitators, with a brief description of your proposed discussion topic by this Friday, January 14th. Agenda and connection details will be shared next week.

Hello,

 

The December Samvera Metadata Interest Group meeting is canceled. Please plan to join us for our next meeting on January 25th, 2022, 2-3pm Eastern, which will be a roundtable discussion on Metadata for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Listed below are possible topics for discussion, but all ideas are welcome.

 

  • Content warnings and harmful content statements
  • Collaborative metadata creation and management with communities and repositories
  • Problematic subject headings and use of alternative controlled vocabularies
  • Local namespaces and controlled vocabularies
  • Metadata remediation and audit projects, tools, or examples

 

We’d love to hear what you’re doing in your work! If you’re interested in participating, please email Nora Zimmerman (zimm...@lafayette.edu) and Anna Goslen (gos...@email.unc.edu), SMIG co-facilitators, with a brief description of your proposed discussion topic by January 14th, 2022.
