Hi Everyone,
Today we celebrate
World Preservation Day 2025. We stand with preservation practitioners around the world to recognize the people, technology, and organizations who dedicate their lives to protecting cultural heritage collections for future generations.
This year’s theme of “Why Preserve” asks us to reflect on what drives our commitment to preservation. What motivates us to safeguard knowledge, and protect these materials into the future?
For more than two decades, Fedora has been a foundational staple of open, digital preservation infrastructure. It powers repositories around
the world in universities, libraries, archives, and a variety of collecting institutions,
who are focused on preserving and protecting their priceless collections.
And we do it because preservation matters. Each object represents part of something important. Something worth saving.
Join us today and pledge your commitment to Preservation
In conjunction with World Preservation Day 2025, we are launching a new initiative to further support the sustainability of Fedora. We invite you to make a one-time donation directly to the Fedora program. These donations will help us sustain current program
work, secure on-going development, and ensure that users around the world can continue protect their digital collections with Fedora.
While one-time donations do not replace participation in the
Fedora Membership Program, they can act as a supplementary source of revenue for the program, allowing us to engage more users and advance development efforts faster and more effectively. So please consider how you can help.
Other Fun Ways to Celebrate
