Ha! I bet you don't even remember how you got onto this list. We set it up at the tail end of OR09 as a replacement for the fedora-dev mailing list, but haven't gotten around to using it until now.
# The Update: Fedora Create Community
I've been working with Thorny and Chris to set up a new
Fedora Create Community forum on the Fedora wiki. The main feature of the Create Community (whose name was inspired by the DSpace create mailing list) is that it attempts to embrace the fact that the Fedora Repository Product is just a small part of the overall ecosystem of software at play in the Fedora Commons developer community. For the sake of sanity, and to help people find like-minded projects & individuals, we have broken all of this software out into the following categories:
The Fedora Repository Product, Complete Solutions, Services & Utilities, Libraries & Frameworks, Content Models, Workflow-ish Components, Plug-ins, and Serializations & APIs. While all of these categories are interrelated, they each appeal to different projects and different developers with varying needs and skills.
There is a fuller explanation of these categories and the thinking behind them on the main page of the Fedora Create Community forum.
This is all a work in progress and we're eager to hear people's thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Since you're already on this list, we figured it makes sense to start with you.
# What to Expect
As a little teaser to get things started, I'm inviting people to get involved in using Freebase to create an RDF-driven replacement for the Community Software Registry page on the Fedora Commons wiki. If this piques your interest, read on at the Project Directory page on the wiki.
I look forward to hearing from you.
