I recently ordered FED devices from LABmaker which is based in Germany and was hit with a 250% import fee which I have to pay in order to receive the package. The customer support suggested that it is a mistake at the customs or UPS brokerage.

Has anyone had a similar issue recently?
Thanks,
Ioannis

Hi Ioannis,

When I placed a FED3 order from Open Ephys in Portugal over the summer, we were charged an import duty of ~$430 on an order of a little under $4K. So not 250%, but we did pay a duty. Best,

Tom

Re-upping this thread as I've received a few emails about it. The tariff rate from the EU to the US is ~15-25%, so plan on DHL asking for that before they'll deliver a shipment from OEPS or Labmaker (the exact rate seems hard to pin down).  The tarriff rate may change in the future but there's no way to avoid paying it.

Also, I'm not involved financially with OEPS or Labmaker, I'm just passing this info on!  -Lex
