Hello all,

We recently got new devices from Open Ephys, and one of them seems to be having trouble when uploading new code.

Double clicking the small button on the board that normally starts bootloader mode does not cause the red LED to flash. In addition, the computer does not recognize the device is connected and it does not show up as an option under "Port" in Arduino. The red light does flash when the device is turned on and when it is plugged in.

The other devices that arrived with this shipment don't have this problem, and I was able to upload new code and reset the clock without any issues.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you!

Best,
Courtney

Hey Courtney,
One quick idea - is the switch in the "ON" position?  It needs to be on for the computer to recognize it and for it to enter the bootloader mode.

If so, can you remove the Adalogger from the PCB and see if the Adalogger will enter bootloader mode when detached from the PCB?  If you aren't sure what I mean let me know, I can record a short video for how to remove it.

Best,
-Lex

Hi Lex,

Yes, the device is on. If you could upload a video that would be great. Thanks!

Courtney

Hi Lex,

Good news, we separated the Adalogger from the PCB and were able to enter bootloader mode and reset the clock. Now, even when the Adalogger and PCB are connected the device works fine for uploading code. Thank you for the help!

Best,
Courtney

That's great news, thanks for posting back!  I also recorded a video this morning showing how to do this troubleshooting, hopefully you don't need it now but may come in handy for the next person who has this issue.

Good luck with your experiments!  -Lex
