Hello FedCM newsletter subscribers!
New year, new achievements! The first announcement in 2025 is a big one—the FedCM team has shipped some new features in Chrome 132, including:
Mode API (formerly known as Button Mode): This API introduces a new active mode in which the sign-in flow is initiated by a user gesture. It works even when the user isn’t signed in to the IdP.
Use Other Account API: This API enables users to use different accounts when signing in with FedCM.
Continuation API bundle: This collection of features allows IdPs to implement more complex multi-step authorization flows, such as requesting additional permissions or verifying user information.
These updates represent a significant step forward for FedCM, and we believe they will make it even easier for developers to build comprehensible and user-friendly identity experiences on the web.
