Herewe are with another great release of Inventor that continues to be driven by you. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to send us your feedback and suggestions. Those suggestions helped to shape over 100 enhancements over the past year.

Inventor 2024 is packed with new features and enhancements to improve your design experience. We also know that documentation is essential to effectively communicate your designs to manufacturing. You will find enhancements for 3D annotations as well as 2D drawings. And we know that performance is a high priority for those working on large complex designs. We have continued our commitment to speed up your engineering workflows.

Until now, Inventor Studio had a 4096 x 4096 pixel rendering output. The limitation has been removed and Inventor Studio will render images up to 16K x 16K resolution, depending on what your graphics card supports.

The parameter window extends export functionality to text and boolean parameters in the user parameters section. This allows us to access parameters in other places, such as the iProperties where we can insert them as part of a live description, or simply display them in the custom iProperties tab.

The new Finish feature enables you specify appearance and manufacturing processes in your part and assembly models. It provides rich data as you apply material coatings, heat treatments, surface texture, or paint color.

On the annotate ribbon there is now a welding symbol option to allow you to add welding PMI information to your designs. The dialogue is almost identical to the drawing environment allowing you great flexibility over your welding symbols. Of course as always, we can bring these notes through into the drawing environment.

Revision clouds are full-fledged Inventor objects and no longer in the SDK. Add them to drawing sheets or views, move them around, add or delete vertices, and like other annotation styles the formatting is managed using the Styles Editor. Since they are sketch-based, they can be edited either in their cloud state or from the sketch.

With Inventor 2024, working with Vault has never been easier. New functions added to iLogic allow Inventor to check out, get files, search Vault, and much more as part of your automations. Vault code snippets added to the editor make it easy to quickly get started.

If a change has occurred in the Inventor model state or design view used for a Fusion 360 export, and you click Open in Fusion 360 in the export context menu, you are notified that the Inventor model and Fusion 360 model are out of sync and are given the option to update the Fusion 360 model before opening it.

I am having an issue inserting images into my part file in Inventor 2024. I want to use the decal tool, which requires me to have a 2D sketch with an image file within, but when inserting an image nothing happens.

I've tried with a couple different images using different image formats, as well as trying in different part files and nothing seems to be working for me. I've done a quick test in Inventor 2022 and I am still getting the exact same issue so I assume I must be missing something trivial. I've attached an ipt file and some of the images I tested with.

I was able to upload a native 2024 model yesterday but not able to configure it and kept receiving the "Job finished with result FailedEnvironmentSetup" error even though it is listed as supported according to the API.

De indeling van het Inventor 2024 is tweeledig: de Nederlandse functies en begrippen zijn terug te vinden in de inhoudsopgave, de Engelse commandonamen in de index. Ook bevat dit gebonden boek werktuigbouwkundige achtergrondinformatie en tips. Door deze opbouw is het geschikt voor zowel beginnende als (ver)gevorderde Inventor-gebruikers.

De beginnende gebruiker van Inventor kan goed met het boek uit de voeten door de sterke combinatie van theorie, geleide instructie en oefeningen. Het boek bevat zeer veel afbeeldingen en met kleine stapjes wordt de lezer op weg geholpen. Alle basisfuncties die een werktuigbouwkundig ontwerper gebruikt, worden uitgebreid behandeld, zoals frames, plaatwerk, lassen en schroefverbindingen. Er zijn ook speciale hoofdstukken over kunststoffen en vrijevorm modelleren.

Voor experts bevat het boek gevorderde onderwerpen, waaronder styles en templates, Vault en skeletmodeleren. Ook iLogic (uitgebreid), adaptiviteit en plaats-, maat- en vormvarianten worden onder de loep genomen. Daarnaast is er ook aandacht voor specialistische zaken als sterkteberekeningen, parameterstudies en optimalisatie.

De Topdown-ontwerpmethodiek van Inventor is door het hele boek verwerkt. De verschillende modelleringstechnieken zijn terug te vinden bij hoofdstukken over kunststoffen, frames, plaatwerk en in de meer algemene hoofdstukken. Inventor ondersteunt overigens niet alleen de modelleringstechnieken van het variantenontwerpen en het skeletontwerpen, maar ook hulpmiddelen die gebruikt kunnen worden om methodisch het beste ontwerp te vinden. Zo kan een ontwerper met de Design Accelerator snel een mechaniek van tandwielen, lagers en assen opzetten en deze daarna weer snel omzetten naar een stangenmechaniek. Ook is het mogelijk om een ontwerp door te rekenen en via een parameterstudie of generatief ontwerp te optimaliseren. Al deze onderwerpen worden in het boek behandeld.

In Inventor 2024 zijn uitbreidingen en vernieuwingen doorgevoerd in vergelijking met de vorige versie. Ook iLogic is verder uitgebreid. Daarmee is het mogelijk om van ieder ontwerp met een paar simpele klikken een hele familie van varianten te maken. Wanneer de ontwerper eenmaal een machine heeft gemaakt, kunt hij deze met weinig moeite omzetten naar een reeks van varianten.

In het deel Uitwisseling wordt beschreven hoe de Inventor-gebruiker met 3D PDF-, SolidWorks-, STEP-, Revit- en Fusion 360-bestanden om moet gaan. Daarnaast is een hoofdstuk opgenomen over MBD, Model Based Dimensioning, waarbij de productiegegevens, zoals bematingen, toleranties en ruwheid, zijn opgenomen in het 3D-model voor bijvoorbeeld een 3D PDF. Zoals hiervoor al aangegeven is het deel iLogic sterk veranderd en uitgebreid omdat Inventor op dit vlak zoveel verbeterd is. Alle hoofdstukken zijn aangepast aan de nieuwe functionaliteit en nieuwe mogelijkheden van Inventor.
