I have dug my heels in, learning this technology as deeply as I am able to. However, my experience is what it is and to those with more experience, it is my hope that this introductory article does some justice to the industry as a whole and that in some way, sheds light on this process of registration to the newcomer who may feel left in the dark on what this is all about (as I was when I first started). And for those of you reading that have much more experience than I, perhaps something will speak to you as well. Just bought a new Lide 400 after reading recommendations on line. I loved my old Canon scanner but it won't work with new Windows, etc. I bought this at Wal Mart for $90. First think you notice is that is small, very small, much smaller than my old one. It did hook up easily but then, the interface has to be a mistake. Small silver box that looks like something from the 1980s. Then i try to register. The serial number comes up invalid. KLXC3[xxxx]. Which keeps me from registering. So it must be a knock off or something. Then, when you scan, there is no preview window, it just shows the file in the folder, which is ridiculous. Then, if you face the front of the scanner toward you, and put photos on the glass and scan them, it brings them up scanned upside down. How do i get a real interface program and change the settings to preview for photos scans and make it scan them right side up?? thanks

On August 9, 2005, Alameda County Supervisors, by adding section 3.72 to Title 3 of the Ordinance Code, created the "Buy with Confidence" program administered by the Alameda County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures. The Department will hire two inspectors to conduct routine inspections of all businesses in the County using automated point of sale terminals or "scanners" to ensure that prices charged for items agree with the posted or advertised prices. Businesses using scanners will be charged an annual registration fee beginning in January of 2006. The ordinance will require that businesses post in a conspicuous location a certificate of registration, which will also serve to advise consumers that complaints regarding improperly scanned items may be directed to the Department. Sorry for a newbie question but this is the first time this has happened after using ESET for 5+ years.

I started an In-Depth scan and the scanner seems to be stuck scanning ONE file and hasn't seemed to move after several hours has passed. I tried pausing the scan but all it did was grey out the button and both my Pause button and Stop Scan button are just greyed out while the scanner is stuck. I read on a previous forum post that you just have to wait but its been 12+ hours and it still hasn't budged.

Is there any way to force stop a scan?
