Hey friends,
please see the two emails from Dan Spencer below - it'd be great if we could support the AYCC's submission - they've done a good job with it.
It would be even better if everyone could write their own personal submission as well.
Let's get SA back to leading the way in progressive policy and action.

Hi SA climate movement/Repower Pt Augusta friends,

Please see below an email that went out to our AYCC members with 8 ways to make SA Cleaner and Fairer AYCC and the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network are putting forward for the SA Govt's climate change strategy. We're trying to get as many supporters signed onto our submission to build case for the State Government to do more for solar thermal in Port Augusta as well as other things on climate and they do seem to be open to listening right now.

If you can sign on and share we'd really appreciate it. Would also really encourage you to make your own submission as an individual/organisation. If you need any help or support let me know.

Thank you,

Dan

Hi Dan,

South Australia - it’s heaps good, but it could be heaps better.

For 4 years now, AYCC has been working alongside the community in Port Augusta and our friends in the movement to replace their two coal fired power stations with Australia’s first solar thermal tower.

Our best opportunity yet to make solar thermal in Port Augusta a reality has just landed in our laps. The South Australian Government has opened up consultations with the community on its climate change strategy. Click here to sign on to the AYCC submission or write your own.

This consultation gives us a real opportunity to set the wheels in motion for making solar thermal in Port Augusta happen, and to push SA to be cleaner and fairer. If we can show Premier Jay Weatherill that SA wants to be the solar state, we can make solar thermal a priority in their plan. That’s why we’ve put together a list of 8 ways to make SA Cleaner and Fairer and we want you to sign on.

We’ll list all the names of people who back our submission on the version we send the government. South Australia already leads the country in renewable energy and if enough of us turn up the pressure we can make the government join us to make SA cleaner and fairer. Can we add your name to the list, Dan?

This isn’t just about South Australia though. Other state governments are looking for leadership on climate policy with Victoria, NSW and Queensland all looking to update their targets and policies, setting themselves apart from the Federal government. SA could lead the way with 100% renewables, a moratorium on new fossil fuel projects and fair access to clean energy for all.

We need the community behind us on this one - will you sign onto our submission ‘8 ways to make SA Cleaner & Fairer’?

I’ll be back in touch soon with inspiring stories from Port Augusta about why this matters, and more ways to influence this decision in the coming weeks. And we’ll continue fighting for a cleaner, fairer Australia until we win - because communities and young people deserve better than the status quo.

Insiders are telling us the SA Government is looking to the community for leadership right now in the lead up to the Paris climate talks, let’s show them that we want solar thermal for Port Augusta and a cleaner, fairer South Australia.

Thanks for your support,

Dan – AYCC
