Dear Cristel --
South Australia's home-grown oil and gas company, Santos, is
pressing on with plans to drill 850 coal seam gas wells in the
Pilliga, the largest remnant forest in Eastern Australia and a
critical recharge zone for the Great Artesian Basin.
Will you let Santos' new CEO, Kevin Gallagher, know you
don't support a coal seam gasfield in the precious Pilliga
forest?
Here is Adelaide's chance to stand
up!
Despite years of opposition from local farmers, traditional
owners and environmentalists Santos still refuses to drop these risky
plans.
Despite a shocking environmental record during exploration,
including the contamination of an aquifer with uranium, Santos still
refuses to drop this disastrous project.
Now, even despite a revaluation of the project to literally $0.00
Santos still presses on with this unwanted, unsafe,
unnecessary and unprofitable project.
After many community victories against unconventional gas right
across NSW, Santos' project in the Pilliga is the last remaining CSG
proposal in the state. A Gasfield Free NSW is within tantalisingly
close. Water knows no state boundaries, so this would be great news
for us all!
To help protect the Pilliga forest and the Great Artesian Basin
from CSG we need you to:
2. Show up at a rally to support farmers and Traditional
Owners outside 2016 Santos AGM at the Adelaide Convention Centre on
May 4 to show Santos some home-grown opposition to its risky
plans. RSVP
or find out more here.
As opposition to the Narrabri Gas Project grows, this year every
Santos office in Australia will be targeted by protests on the day of
the AGM. Let's make sure the new CEO, the board and shareholders know
they cannot escape the controversy in their proud home state.
