Hi, I am using FDS to simulate fire in a tunnel.

I am trying to use tecplot to view my results.
I wonder if someone could help me to understand how to do it.

For example : I made a calculation and at the end i have files with
differents extensions :

.fds (input) / .end / .out / .smv/ .stop / .restart (no use for
tecplot ?)

.xyz (mesh information)/ .s3d (smoke information) / .sz (???) / .sf
(slice files) / .bf (boundary files) / .csv / .q (plot3D file)

What i understand from the user manual is :
I need to : - create a .xyz (OK)
- convert the .q in data files with fds2ascii (OK)
- convert .sf and .bf in data files (also with
fds2ascii) OK

But then, i don't understand how i have to do to open it with tecplot.
When i try to open it with "Tecplot data loader", i say : "multiple
files" and load the .xyz and the three .dat together.

I have an error message :

"Unexpected End of files in Datafile header"

what does it mean ? and what should i do ?

thanks for your help!

When I use tecplot to view my results -- I print the .xyz and keep the plot 3D file (.q). I then use the techplot data loader for plot 3d -- input the .q and use the .xyz for the grid. I haven't had too many problems -- also there is a python script you can search for on the internet if you have multiple meshes you are trying to put together at once.

are you using Tecplot focus or tecplot 360 ? do you think it can be a
reason ?

I am loading it by : "Load data files" and then i have this list : DEM/
DFX/excel/General text/HDF/HDF5/PLY/Tecplot data loader/text
spreadsheet loader.

As you can see there is not "plot 3D" !

I still have this error message :

"Unexpected End of files in Datafile header"

what does it mean ?

thanks for your help!

To load the data, you have to use "Import" and then select "Plot3D
Loader" and follow instructions.
