Hi,

I am adding wind to the attached simulation and want the building to have a leakage rate that corresponds to loose construction. I am running the simulation on a high-performance computing cluster and am getting the following error.

ERROR: ZONE  0 meets ZONE  1 at the boundary of MESH   15 and MESH   11
ERROR: ZONE  0 meets ZONE  1 at the boundary of MESH   15 and MESH   12
ERROR: ZONE  1 meets ZONE  0 at the boundary of MESH   11 and MESH   15

I ran a simplified version of this input file, with a total of 2 meshes, and did not get any issues. Do you have any input as to why I am getting this error? I have attempted to follow the guidance in section 12.3 of the FDS User Guide and have made adjustments to my mesh boundaries in addition to changing the size of the zone, but still get the same error.

Best,
Alison

You cannot have a ZONE where there is a flow path to an OPEN boundary. There can be no background pressure rise in any grid cell that sees an OPEN boundary.  You could try using localized leakage.

Thank you - I will attempt to use the localized leakage. However, do you know why I am not getting an error for the simplified scenario attached below? I still have an OPEN boundary and am also using ZONE.

The ZONE line is probably being ignored. In any case, do not use a ZONE line if the domain is completely open. Local leakage does not work with ZONEs. See the User's Guide.

The information in this tutorial might help solidify the concepts.
