If we measure gas temperatures with bare-bead thermocouples during a
enclosure fire experiment and then want to calculate that those
temperatures using FDS - is using "THERMOCOUPLE TEMPERATURE" enough
with providing required information like bead thickness etc.?

What I mean is that, for making comparision, do we need to apply any
radiation correction to the measured data?

Using output quantity 'THERMOCOUPLE' means that FDS tries to simulate
the radiation error, so that you do not neet to make the corrections
when comparing the data.

Thanks, Simo.

I was not sure whether 'THERMOCOUPLE' quantity is meant to give aspirated or bare-bead thermocouple reading. Is there any validation study available?

The output THERMOCOUPLE is used throughout the FDS Validation Guide
(search through the FDS Repository under Validation/*/
FDS_Input_Files). We have not done a study of just the TC output
feature -- we are essentially using an algorithm described by Welsh
and Rubini, 5th IAFSS, 1997.
