Hello fds group members

I would like to ask a simple question that once i have executable file and runned my fds case successfully, how can i open the .smv file? It seems that the executable file 'fds_impi_intel_linux_db' did not inclure the smokeview executable(application).

Otherwise, how can i increase the number of cores from 1 to 8?

Thanks you very much!

Best,
Tianzheng

Smokeview is a separate code.  If you compiled FDS from source, then you did not also get Smokeview.  You can download and install Smokeview independently from here:

For FDS, search the user guide for OMP_NUM_THREADS

Also you probably want to build the non-debug version and run that. Debug is useful for finding bugs as it is unoptimized so it compiles quickly and it turns on all kinds of array and pointer checks. The penalty for this is it is an order of magnitude slower than the non-debug version.
