Good morning,

I am trying to couple FDS with Abaqus to get a FSI simulation.
The geometry is basically the whole structure of a building used for storage so I analyze first the burning process of the pallets stored and later I transfer temperature to the structural analysis for a explicit analysis using beam elements.

Main problem is that I cannot model the whole geometry in FDS neither in Abaqus so I have the pallets in FDS and the structure (beams) and the structure (beams) in Abaqus so I cannot export the AST temperatures.

I would like to know which parameters can I export from the the gas device to be able to represent correctly the temperature in the structure (AST temperature are always smaller than gas temeprature due to radiative dissipation)

Thanks in advanced,

Use 'ADIABATIC SURFACE TEMPERATURE GAS' which will give you the AST to a surface that does not have to be explicitly included in the FDS simulation. Use ORIENTATION to represent any direction (not just the 6 coordinate directions).

I am sorry but I am not able to use  'ADIABATIC SURFACE TEMPERATURE GAS'  in a device. Could you tell me what am I doing wrong?

&DEVC ID='01', QUANTITY='ADIABATIC SURFACE TEMPERATURE GAS', XYZ=1.23E+01,6.37E+01,1.00E-15, ORIENTATION=1.,1.,0./

What error do you receive?

What FDS version do you run?
