Hello

well i am running a 22 mesh simulation with around 11 mill cels (mesh
is balanced, algined...etc)
the same model and spec. ran good in diferant coarser mesh

i get up to 220 sec of simulation and then i get an error output:

forrtl: The handle is invalid.
forrtl: severe (38): error during write

Can any one help? with debuging?

thanks

forrtl means Fortran Run-Time Library. It appears that a problem
occurred when FDS tried to write to a file. Because this error occurs
well into the calculation, something might have happened like -- you
ran out of disk space, you lost a network connection, you had a power
surge/spike. Are you using DT_CORE and was FDS writing a "restart"
file at the time? Does the error always occur at 220 s?

well I'm not sure about what exactly happened,
Network - it's not likely that the network failed it 2 servers 8 cores
each connected on a giga lan.
power spike is possible , disk space -no problem.

I am not using DT_CORE nor RESTART files .
FDS was writing a "slice" file at the time?
it has happened before , but not recently - so I will run it again
with restart files and hope for the best
:) thanks for the quick respond

hi guys

well i ran it again :( it fell at 229 sec
with the error: "severe (47): write to READONLY file" -> It was
writing a slice file (and not the same as befor)
i made restart files this time but im not sure how to use them (never
used them) nor why does it fall

This doesn't sound like an FDS error, more like something with your
file system. Does your system have security features that limit
access times to files by jobs?

This may be related to a problem with Windows. On the DUMP line, add
FLUSH_FILE_BUFFERS=.FALSE. and try your case again. There is
discussion of this in the User's Guide.
