Hello everyone!

I am getting an error of 'SURF cannot be applied to a thin obstruction'  even though the obstruction is 1 cell thick. How to deal with this error?

Thank you.
Regards,
Rakesh

Maybe the surf is applied to another thin obstacles that is less than 1cell thick. Put on the obst lines THICKNESS=T
Verify the spelling as I don't have the UG at hand.

Please find attached the case. The thickness of the thin obstruction is 0.16 mm. So I wanted to have 0.16 mm cells near the obstruction and gradually increase the size away from the paper.

You have a complicated and inefficient meshing strategy. Each mesh is solved independently and having only a handful of cells across each mesh isn't going to give a good solution. this is probably also causing issues with assigning surfaces. You also have high aspect ratios in some of the meshes. Given that you would only need ~230x2200 cells to cover the mesh at the smallest grid resolution, I suggest just using a uniform grid resolution. If you want to take advantage of MPI, first split vertically (MPI is more efficient when meshes have small aspect ratios).
