Meaning of an FDS Error

Dear experts,

I have received after attempting to run a FDS file the following error message:

ERROR: PARTicle class WATER VAPOR SPK requires a TMP_V

I search the FDS User Guide but did not find what TMP_V mean.

I believe that means you need a boiling temperature. Did you add a line like

&SPEC ID='WATER VAPOR SPK', SPEC_ID='WATER VAPOR' /

??

Do I understand that FDS is asking for the temperature at which water vaporizes? Is it the vaporization due to the fire elevated temperature? Is there a default temperature FDS would use if one does provide that value?

Name the SPEC 'WATER VAPOR', not 'WATER VAPOR SPK'

Just for your information, what I have tried just before both of you provided a reply to my question, is add " SPEC_ID='WATER VAPOR", and FDS accepted that.

I just saw your additional comment Kevin.

What I am trying to simulate is a fire with sprinklers. I am under the understanding that water vapor can come from both the resulting fire process and from the discharge of sprinklers. That is why there are two parameters: water vapor (from the fire) and water vapor SPK from the sprinkler discharge.

Am I misunderstanding the User Guide?

I'm not sure what you are doing, but I suggest you include only one line for water vapor.

&SPEC ID='WATER VAPOR' /

Otherwise, FDS wants all the properties of this new water vapor that you have specified.

Ok, will do.

I am interested in finding out the impact of water and water vapor cooling the space as well as slowing down (controlling) the fire.

From your suggestion, the simplest way is to capture all water vapor as a mass fraction quantity. Am I understanding correctly?
