I created my model on revit and exported it as an .ifc file:

Imported .ifc file to pyrosim and added a burner in the lab room.

Of course when you simulate it it, the doors become solid "obstructions" and not "holes" where smoke can pass through.

How can you transform an "obstruction" property to a "hole"?
There are no settings available to do such a thing, so should I just delete all the doors and manually create rectangular "holes"?
The negative impact are the aesthetics and inaccurate sizes.

Otherwise, it's going to look like this (a model I created manually pre-revit) which doesn't look too pleasing.old floor 1.JPG

I really appreciate your help, guys!

You can copy all your door obstructions in a .txt file, and you can use the command find and substitute. You have to insert in  find "OBST ID" and then substitute with "HOLE ID". Then you can copy what you have obtained in the fds file or if you want, directly in pyrosim.  I think that this procedure is so simple that a specific plugin is not necessary.

Thanks for your response!
I'm not too knowledgeable of pyrosim other than creating walls and simulating smoke on them.

How do I access the .txt file? I tried selecting all doors and right click to "copy FDS record" then pasting into notepad but that didn't work.

I see where I will CNTRL+F or do remove/replace "Obst id" with "hole id".

Then how do I do that last step?

I appreciate it.

1. Copy FDS record on pyrosim
2. CTRL+V in notepad
3. CTRL+H in notepad
4. Write "OBST ID" in the box "Find What" and write "HOLE ID" in the box "replace"

You're amazing thanks!!

Just tips for anyone:
1. Replace OBST ID to HOLE ID
hole ID.JPG
2.Copy all: CNTRL+A then CNTRL+C
3. Click Pyrosim and right click on door>Select by BIM type (this will select all doors) and delete all door obstructions.
4. Click anywhere on Pyrosim and CNTRL+V (to paste what you had on notepad)
5. Warning Pops up. Click "Copy to Clipboard">OK

6. New holes appear- but I get a very thin width (2nd and 3rd pic).
For some doors (3rd photo), I get this weird thin hole that is separate from the main door hole. I am sure those are door panels. I just right-click>Select by BIM and deleted all of it
For the 4th photo, some doors were able to match the width of the wall but there is a gap.

7. It will take some time to experiment (a) select all those thin holes and increase thickness (if that is even necessary). (b) somehow move all the doors and close the gaps.

Thanks a lot, Ashish.
