FDS+Evac

wonder if it's going to be more useful to include the Evac
documentation as part of the official FDS users guide. It would
minimise the need to maintain 2 separate documents.
In the interim, will be the user's guide for FDS+Evac be availble for
download from this official FDS site?

reason for keeping the Evac documents separate -- the Evac routines in
FDS were developed primarily by Timo Korhonen of VTT, Finland. Glenn
Forney and I helped to put the necessary "hooks" into Smokeview and
FDS, but the heart of the Evac algorithm was written by Timo, and
because of this he needs to have total control over that part of the
code and its documentation. NIST and VTT have their own respective
review processes, and we thought it best that the Evac routines be
reviewed and maintained by VTT. However, Simo Hostikka of VTT
continues to work on both the fire part of FDS and to some extent the
Evac. Glenn and I still need to do a few things to improve the Evac
part.

Maybe it's a little bit weird question but where can I download fds
+evac installation file? I checked the VTT site without any success,
there is a ling but does't work. Maybe I doesn't understand the idea
of EVAC and there is a way to "upgrade" my fds to FDS+EVAC version.

Hello All!
I would like to use FDS5 like EVAC. It works well. But If I would like
to use it in mpiexec (paralel) mode it doesn't work. I have read in
FdsEVAC user's guide that fds and evac can't work together in paralel
mode. If somebody knows about it, please write some things.

from main.f90. There will not be a true parallel version of
FDS+Evac very soon. First there will be a parallel-fds version,
which will write the CHID_evac.fed file for the evacuation
calculation. This will be out there during spring 2008, hopefully.
Then you can do a parallel fire calculation and after this
use the fire information in the evacuation part,
which is run using a single processor. There is no need to
run fire and evacuation at the same time, because running
fire first and the running only evacuation is just the same
as running both at the same time. The fire <==> evacuation
data is transfered via the CHID_evac.fed file. And for now,
there is no two-directional coupling in the calculation,
i.e., the data flow is fire ==> evacuation.
