Question about FDS installation in Mac M2 max

Hello everyone

I followed the wiki guide to install FDS in the macOS system, but only the bin folder and README.html without any document.  So what's the problem with me? did anyone meet the same problem? Thank you in advance

I do not think we have tested our installer on an M2 mac.  Probably you would have to compile yourself using GNU.  See the notes here:

Also make sure you run the installer in a bash command shell. If you are using zsh type bash first, then the installer script name

Dear Dr.Randy McDermott

According to your suggestion, I have achieved the first several steps, but break at Installing Intel Math Kernel Library. Because MKL version 2017 could be downloaded at the associated link. So I could not follow the directed steps in Compiling FDS with GNU Fortran in Mac OSX. On the Intel website, I only found the oneAPI Math Kernel Library, displayed as screenshots. Is that similar to Math Kernel Library in version 2017 or 2018? What should I do to link to Intel Math Kernel Libraries in Linux and OSX?  Hope you could give me some advice or direction and thank you in advance.

Hi Frank, unless you want to modify the FDS source code, I suggest you install the nightly build in your Mac M2.

You can run x86 compiled code in the new macs using the RosettaII translator. All intel libraries have been compiled for x86 so they don't work in ARM cpus.

You can still compile openmpi/FDS with the ARM native gcc in homebrew in your Mac, but you can't link with MKL afaik. This will mean you can't run alternative pressure solvers.
