forrtl severe (157) program exception - access violation fds

Hi every one

I have version 5.5.3 of FDS  with GUI. when i divided the model into only 2 meshes or higher (into 10 meshes) and ran the FDS as parallel  i always getting this error (forrtl severe (157) program exception - access violation) . I tried to run  this model on many PCs.

but i always getting this  error.

My PC properties are:

1)  CPU Xeon(R) X5670 2.93 GHz (2 processors) 

2) 12 GB Ram 

3 ) windows-7 64 Bit OS.

Could any one help me, Please.

Hi Ahmed,

I have had this same error for different reasons.  I'm sure there are other circumstances where it can come up, but check the following:

1. Make sure you do not have vents within obstructions

2. If you have the backing "exposed" to an obstruction which is mor ethan one grid cell thick, then you will get this error. You can change to "INSULATED" backing or changing obstruction thickness to be one grid cell size in thickness.

3. A colleague has reported this error due to a sprinkler input problem - changing the sprinkler solved it, don't know why unfortunately.

If you do a search for this error on this forum you may find other solutions to this problem as well, if none of the above apply to your simulation.
