Hello,
sometimes I get this kind of error when running FDS :

"forrtl: severe (47): write to READONLY file, unit 555, file H:/*filepath*/nameofthefdsfile.sf"

Sometimes I re-run the simulation and all goes well, sometimes not. In one of my last simulation the error persists a lot and I can't get to the end of the simulation.

Since the error mentions a .sf file at first I thought the error was caused by opening the smv file of the simulation during the simulation, but the problem turns up again even if I don't open smv during the calculation.

I've tried placing the command FLUSH_FILE_BUFFERS=.FALSE. on the DUMP line as stated in this github issue (https://github.com/firemodels/fds/issues/165), but the problem remains.

I run the simulation on windows with the latest version of FDS, the command I use in the FDScmd is : fds_local  filename.fds.

I attach the error message and the fds file.
Do you have any idea on how to solve this?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea

I apologize but I wasn't able to attach the files in the first message.

Is the H drive on your computer? Or is it some remote hard drive?

Several possible reasons:

1) if H:\ drive is a network drive, the server could be scanning or doing something with the file while FDS is trying to write to it
2) You could have an agressive antivirus program scanning the file and preventing FDS from writing to it
3) if your filepath is being sync'd by Microsoft OneDrive or similar type service, Onedrive could be trying to sync it while FDS is trying to write to it.

Suggest you perform all your simulations on your local drives, disable antivirus if possible and keep the simulation folder out of any folders synced by Onedrive or similar services.

Running the simulation on C: solved the problem, thank you all for the assistance.
