Hello! I know that I'm going to sound stupid because I am about to ask a few stupid questions, but you can help me a lot with your answers.
I tried to run a few input files in WFDS for some research but i am having a problems with trees catching fire. So, here are the questions:

1. Can someone explain me the right way to install WFDS? I did it like this FDS - WFDS - run simulation in FDS (it wont open file in wfds.exe) then watched results in smoke view. Is there a problem with installation or did I miss some steps?
2. I finished some simulations with T=60 but but trees still didn't burn. Is it because they needed more HRRPUA or more time?

I would be very thankful if somebody could just answer me if I did right installation steps or is it something else wrong. I installed FDS and WFDS 5.5.3. and also tried with some 6.x.x. version, still have same problems.

Thank you in advance,

Stefan.

Ok, I sorted that thing out. My next question is - why are my trees not removed after burning out? I guess line VEG_REMOVE_CHARRED=.TRUE. in &PART ID= is going to work. In Smoke View I can see that my tree is burning and flames are spreading through entire cone, but after that tree is still standing and present in simulation. Anyone care to explain that to me in one or two sentences?

First time, when i tried some models, I run them in FDS. That didn't work out very well. So, next time, I run them through WFDS and trees were burning but didn't burn out. I tried same thing with that example (attachment file) that is available on the net, same thing happened. I run model via cmd, with C:\example\example wfds_9977_win_64 tree.fds (because it didn't work out with right click/open with/ ).

Also, the problem is that I don't know what version of fds and wfds are ''working with each other''. I found some version 5.x.x.x. of both fds and wfds and installed them on one PC, and some version 6.x.x.x of fds and wfds on second PC. User manual is also the problem because i found parts of it online, like this one here
http://www.fs.fed.us/pnw/fera/wfds/wfds_user_guide.pdf
or some traces of it.

Would really be thankful if I can at least get my hands on full user manual or get information what version of fds and wfds should I use (and were can I find them, because I found couple of links, like this one https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_bgF4BXEQH0N2UxN2M2OGMtNmU2NS00YmQyLTkwNWQtOGQ3ZTY2ODRiNmYx).

If you don't have time to explain it to me, just point me in the right direction where i can find answers :)

WFDS was a "branch" of FDS that diverged from the main FDS development branch about 6 years ago. At this point, 9977 was the SVN number when the two codes split. We are working to restore all the functionality of WFDS to FDS, and if you are doing research with WFDS, I urge you to join in our efforts because WFDS is not going to be maintained. This means that we do not plan to address of fix problems in WFDS.

Your old WFDS input files will not work with the current version of FDS. The vegetation-specific inputs have been generalized so that we might address any kind of particles within FDS. An example of how vegetation is handled is given by this test case:

https://github.com/firemodels/fds/blob/master/Verification/WUI/pine_needles.fds

A description is given in the FDS User's Guide (search on "pine_needles"). A few validation cases are given here:

https://github.com/firemodels/fds/tree/master/Validation/NIST_Douglas_Firs/FDS_Input_Files

A description of the Douglas Fir cases are given in the FDS Validation Guide.

Here is an input file, feel free to take a look and give suggestions. T=200 so if you have even more spare time you can run model and give me some suggestions. Thanks!

Hi,
I am currently working on fire detection related project.
Even though I installed and run files on FDS, I failed to ren WFDS files.

Can you please guide me how to do the installing process and running on WFDS on Linux?

Specially is it another software( If so can you guide me where to get it)  or can I run it on top of FDS and what are the commands to run WFDS ( LIke "fds filename.fds" in FDS)
I have downloaded WFDS from from this link. https://github.com/ruddymell/wfds9977

I would be grateful if you can help me out with this.

Thanks in advanced.
