I am trying to simulate pool fire (Propane) to see the effect of radiation on injury to people near the pool fire. I am using pyrosim for this. I have made the model but I am not able to simulate  pool fire.

How can i ignite the pool fire except using HRRPUA?

Right now, i am igniting fire using a specified vent with HRRPUA.

If somebody can guide me how to model pool fire, i will be grateful.

The input to the model is this.

Your grid resolution in Z is 2 m (50/25) and your OBST with the burner is 0.2 m.  Try adding THICKEN=.TRUE. to the OBST line with the Surface04.  Or check the box in Pyrosim.

Your case runs for me. What is the problem?

Dear Kevin, in the above code, i just created fire by setting HRRPUA.

Now, i am trying to create fire by specifying MLRPUA. But I am not able to get the result. Could you please have a look at my code and tell me what I am doing wrong?

When I run your code I get this error:

ERROR: DEVC temperature.  All components of ORIENTATION are zero. (CHID: test)

STOP: FDS was improperly set-up (CHID: test)

I removed the ORIENTATION parameters from the DEVC line and the case runs fine.

Dear Randy, thanks for your reply. First, its not running in pyrosim. When i try to run it on pyrosim, it just completed with opening of smoke view.

When i tried to run it separately on FDS6, yes it run but pool isn't burning. There is no any smoke and flame generated due to this pool fire.

Then what could be the problem? I am running the same case using FDS6 but i am not able to see flame and smoke.

Exactly what version of FDS are you using?

I installed the latest one around one month ago. I have also installed FDS5.

Can it be due to installing of both versions?

But this code is also not running on Pyrosim.

When you type 'fds' at the command prompt and hit enter what does it say?

Here is my result from running 6.3.2 on Windows with Smokeview 6.3.3.

I guess I would suggest a fresh install of the 6.3.2 bundle.  Just do it from the fds-smv website:

Pyrosim does not run the version of FDS installed by the Github installer in program files\firemodels\FDS6\bin. Pyrosim runs the version it installs in Program Files\PyroSim ####\fds (where #### is the year of Pyrosim Release). It is possible Pyrosim is running a different version than what is reported when you type fds at a command prompt. You can see what version was installed by Pyrosim by executing the fds version in the Pyrosim directory.
