Hi,

I have compiled FDS 6 (r 16104).

I have run the case without any errors but .q files are not getting created.

What could be the reason ?

I tried installing FDS 6 using the .sh file available in Downloads and run the simulation. But, the result was same. .q files are missing.

The same .fds case file created .q files when ran with FDS 5.5.3

Please help.

Thanks.

We no longer write plot3d files by default. You can turn them back on.

Forgot to mention that I tried turning them back on by adding the following line from the user guide:

&DUMP PLOT3D_QUANTITY(1:5)='TEMPERATURE','U-VELOCITY','V-VELOCITY','W-VELOCITY','HRRPUV'/

Am I missing something ?

Yes. You need to set the flag to dump the files. See the &DUMP input parameters table in the user's guide.

Thanks.  What about the visualization of smoke and fire ? Do I need to add anything for that as well ?

SMOKE3D is set to .TRUE. by default.

I could not see 3D Smoke Option in Smokeview. Neither the 3D Smoke Parameters in Dialogs.

SMOKE3D is automatically generated. Search the Dialogs in Smokeview.

Do you have a fire? Smokeview doesn't show the smoke3d menu if there isn't a smoke3d file to load.

I have fire and smoke in my input file. This is not an issue with my input file.

It has got something to do either with my Windows XP 32 bit laptop OR Win 32 bit version of FDS 6. I am not sure.

I have run the same case file on Linux 64 bit machine with FDS 6 and it works fine without any issues.

I could visualize fire and smoke as well.

Start an issue on the Issue Tracker. Post a very simple input file that works on linux and not Windows.
