AutoCAD to FDS plug-in

Hello, FDS-lovers.

Recently I wrote an AutoCAD plug-in, which helps to convert geometry
to FDS format. This plug-in allows to set material properties for
solids, start calculating in FDS and view calculation results in
AutoCAD. You can find more detailed description and latest plugin

Dear PavelShkleinik

I try to install the Autocad plug-in but the program send me an error
messige. Error 101 you don't install autocad in the pc.I have autocad
in the pc. Have you any idea what is the problem?
I see the program is run 32bit operating system but I have 64 bit
operating system and my autocad is 64bit version. What do you think is
this the reason the program send me the error messige?
If this is the reason the program is didn't run can you help me what
can I do the program is run my operating system.

Yeah, using 64-bit AutoCAD could be a problem. Plugin was developed
for 32-bit AutoCAD 2009/AutoCAD 2009 Architecture.
But it is not a problem to add support to other versions of AutoCAD.
As far as I remember the only limitation for this moment is AutoCAD
version, it should be equal or higher than 2008.

I have just installed ACAD2FDS in my computer (Windows XP - 32bits),
but when I run AutoCad (2008 or 2011), the plugin's menu is not
visible in any where of Autocad...
I have tried install the program in de Autocad folder, but nothing.

Have I to install the plugin in other rute?
Or, have I to do anything else?

The installation folder is:
C:\Program Files\Walash Ltd\AutoCAD to FDS plugin\

Unfortunately current build doesn't support this AutoCAD versions, but
I already implemented support of different AutoCAD version. Now I
working on logging. I suppose, that at this weekend or at the
beginning of the next will I'll upload a new build. I'll post build
notes in this thread.

Hello,
New version of the AutoCAD to FDS plugin released. It still alpha but
it has number enhancements in comparison with previous version.

The major change is that now plugin can be integrated to any AutoCAD
version. You are welcome to download and try new version, don't
hesitate to inform me about your experience and wishes.

Unfortunately I have never tried to run plugin on 64-bit OS and with
64-bit AutoCAD, I haven't such environment.
It would be great if somebody provide me with 64-bit environment. I
just need 64-bit OS, AutoCAD and Visual Studio 2010, broadband
internet connection and remote desktop access to the machine with all
this stuff.

In my previous post I provided you some links of the product description and how steps to use it. Below are some required steps to convert geometry from AutoCAD to FDS format:

1. Create 3D model in AutoCAD (it is better to start your experiments with simple one).

2. Configure materials mappings and other plugin settings if required.

3. Run conversion.

It is simpler, than steal candy from baby :)

I'm trying to use this useful plug-in, but I'm facing this problem:
after installing it, opening Autocad 2010, language italian,
educational licence, the software crashes and stops immediatly.

Unfortunately I can just suggest that this AutoCAD version is not supported at this moment. You can try luck with AutoCAD 2009 English 32bit. It worked for me.

I have another question for you: in your opinion, is it possible to
automatically model a curve surfaces in an easy way?
I explain better the problem: I would like to model a round pipe and I
don't know if it is possible to model it using this or another
application like this one.

Yep, the geometry conversion engine is design in the way to support curved surfaces. Theoretically it should work.

The plugin uses Boundary Representation AutoCAD API that was introduced in the 2009 version. So, nothing surprising :)
