Dear Users:

We are happy to announce the official release of FDS 6.

Downloads and documentation are available from the primary FDS-SMV web page:

For installation instructions for Windows, Mac, and Linux, please visit our YouTube channel or wiki pages:

The release notes for FDS 6.0 are posted here:

More information about the most significant changes is available in a series of blog posts on our Developer Blog:

Within the FDS User's Guide, you can find a table for translating FDS 5 input files to FDS 6. These changes are also mentioned in the release notes.

Please report any issues to the Issue Tracker along with a VERY simple test case, and post any general questions or comments to the Discussion Group:

FDS 6 has been built around a philosophy of continuous integration testing, which involves nightly automated builds of the verification and validation guides and quantitative error checking. This process results in higher quality, more reliable software for end-users, enables better collaboration with researchers, and allows our development team to focus on core model development. The nightly build status of the FDS-SMV project can be found here:

Finally, thanks to all of you for your patience and support. And thanks especially to all of our beta testers. If any names are missing, please let us know and we will be sure to include you in the guide.

Best regards,

The FDS-SMV Development Team

Dear FDS developers, thank you so much for your great work and your effort developing FDS 6. We FDS users are amazed by the great new functionalities, especially the freedom defining the species by the user makes FDS so powerful. we can't wait to test it and compare it to experimental data. I believe that FDS will get more popular and that you will get more and more feedback to support your great work. Greetings and thank you. Daniel

Please contribute to the FDS community by sending a report and validation data!

Hi Guys,

I need to remind myself of the finer points of the changes between FDS5 and FDS6, and wanted to get a copy of the release notes, however most of the links are broken. Would you be able to please point me towards the release notes.

Thanks in advance

Matt
