I'll bet you both have your Windows task bar set to "auto hide" . When you
maximize
a smokeview window, a portion of the smokeview window appears where the
task bar
would have been drawn.
On windows, technically Smokeview is not rendering the smokeview image but
rather
whatever is appearing in the front of the window. So, smokeview copies out
the task
bar (or a white or black stripe of the same size) to the rendered image.
So, I'll say this is a windows bug since when auto-hiding is on YOU don't
see the
task bar but it overrides the screen buffer that smokeview uses to output
the image.
The only way to fix the problem is to turn off auto-hiding or to make sure
that your
smokeview scene does not overlap where the task bar would be drawn.
To confirm, check to see if auto-hiding is turned on (right click on task
bar and
select properties). Now open up a smokeview scene and maximize it. Now
toggle
auto-hiding on and off (make sure you press apply after checking box).
Should see
the smokeview scene change in size slightly).

You are right. At least me, I use the auto hide feature for the task bar. I
will try
it out next weak.
