Faubourg Marengo and Faubourg Delachaise Neighborhood Association Meeting, September 23, 2025
The Faubourg Delachaise Neighborhood Association and Faubourg Marengo Neighborhood Association had a joint meeting. It occurred at WRBH Reading Radio, 3606 Magazine St. Thanks to Zach Frosch of Reading Radio for allowing us to meet here.
Thanks to Adam Kelly of Faubourg Delachaise for leading the meeting. Thanks to all who brought snacks and drinks.
Lesli Harris, our Councilperson from District B, is not on the ballot for reelection – because she was unopposed! Congratulations! She talked about her push to get blighted houses back into commerce and pushing DNA lab to get through rape kit backlog. She talked about roadwork being done on Magazine Street. (No Ghost Manor at Halloween this year). Constantinople Street and Marengo Street are scheduled for an overhaul in 2026.
District B will have another clean up on November 8.
She sang the praises of Matthew Schoenberger, Director of Community Engagement for District B, who was in attendance. (We love how helpful Matt is!)
Antonia Holden, our Neighborhood Liaison for District B from the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office, encouraged neighbors to attend the Neighborhood Summit at the Convention Center on Nov 1
She said there is a meeting at St. George’s School on Tuesday, September 30 at 6:00 to discuss artificial turf being installed at Laurence Square Park. This project is to be completed by Thanksgiving,
Zach Frosch, the new Director of WRBH Radio for the Blind, welcomed us and said he wants us to continue to use their space for our meetings. He invited everyone to stop by on Oct 4 for Art for Art’s Sake.
Mandie Landry, our District 91 Representative to the Louisiana Legislature, said the legislative session ended in June. She said there might be a special session on redistricting due to Supreme Court Case (out of Louisiana) that asserts that any map that considers race is unconstitutional. Neighbors talked about how high property insurance is.
We then heard from several of the candidates running for the 2 seats for Councilperson at Large:
Division 1 candidates:
Delisha Boyd, Matt Hill, Matthew Willard
Division 2 candidates:
Reverand Gregory Manning
(Note: JP Morrell and Kenneth Cutno could not attend)
Remember to vote on October 11!
Julie Graybill
Secretary, Faubourg Marengo Neighborhood Association
