It's been a while, but I wanted to share some news.
Most of you know that over the past few years, I ran the NYC Marathon with Fred's Team in honor of Liam Witt, an amazing little boy who's been battling neuroblastoma, a rare cancer of the nervous system. He had a nine-hour operation last July -- his second -- to clear him of a recurrence in the original spot, behind his lungs. He spent the fall and winter receiving chemo and other treatments, and was doing great.
Unfortunately, just before Easter, routine scans found the cancer has returned again, in two new spots. Liam is back on high-dose chemo, and just spent the past few days in the "sleeping side" of the hospital with a fever and infection.
No matter what life throws his way, Liam meets it with a smile and a determination that's astonishing to behold. I know that if there's anyone that can beat this cancer, it's him.
Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. It goes without saying that I'll be lacing up again this year.
You can read his mother's amazing blog at http://princelia...@blogspot.com
Thanks, everyone.
Hopefully better news soon!
