In hindsight, taking electrolyte supplements would probably have been
wise. In the past, it has been my philosophy to stick to the basics -
water, sports drinks and GU. However, given my experience on Sunday,
I think I should be taking advantage of other products that can help.
Some folks in my running group yesterday recommended the same thing,
so after work I'm on my way to the store! I must be prepared for
Houston in 7 1/2 weeks!

I've had many "races" turn into actual RACES at the end because there's somebody else and we're trying to beat each other. My time at NY Marathon was a little under 6 hours, but I feel fine about that because I beat the lighthouse. (There's a guy who runs in a large, foamcore mockup of a lighthouse promoting the NJ Marathon.) I managed to pass him JUST at the 26 mile marker as we turned into the park and it took everything I had left to stay ahead of him.

On hot days or race days when it's warmer than expected, I use Endurolytes before, during, and after the run. Seems to help.
