March 2024

Adirondack Rowing

Anxious to get back on the water?  It will be so nice to feel water under our blades and get together in boats!  A lot has happened over the winter and here is news to catch-up.

Get ready for rowing!  Make sure you renew your membership to FCRA ($525) for 2024, renew your membership with USRowing, and check to make sure your SafeSport status is up to date.  This is important for liability and needed before you use the dock and equipment.  The official opening date for Inlet Bay is April 1st.  This is when the gate will be open for access (through November 30th). Please keep in mind the 90 degree rule (total of air and water temperature) when going out and use your discretion to be safe. If you access Inlet Bay in the off season, a placard must be put on your dashboard indicating that you are with FCRA and park in the upper parking lot.

A new contract has been made with the Larimer County Dept. of Natural Resources (LCDNR) and it is important to be responsible park users.  This means that we must have a park pass to access the reservoir (as always), every rower will treat the park and LCDNR employees (the rangers) with respect.  All rules will be enforced to maintain our rights to the reservoir.

CSU has permission to begin rowing beginning March 18 and will be on the dock Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-7am and on Saturdays 7a – noon.  Initially, Juniors will have practice on Monday afternoons.  Stay tuned for the season schedule for masters.  TeamSnap will continue to be our main means of communication and the schedule will be posted there.  Please let Jamie know if you need access to TeamSnap.

Frank has been working on repairs to our new-to-us Stillwater Launch.  Thank you Frank!  It should be ready close to the start of the season depending on weather.

Thank you, Dan Chilsen, for coordinating winter dock and boat checks!  Everything went smoothly thanks to Dan’s planning and volunteers’ dock checks.  On a related note, if you are not comfortable with knots or tying boats securely, please ask or have someone check your work.
