Dear All

I live and work in France (Burgundy + Alps) and with a number of public bodies, a University mobility research Department and community organisations we are currently looking at how to apply new technologies including AI to help scale up and make local cooperative and resilient food systems more resilient. We also have the support of  specialised tech’ SMES on scoping modelling potential systems and pilot projects .

As in many parts of Europe There has been significant development of localised food systems based on the usual range of direct and indirect markets and marketing systems, during the COVID-19 crisis many new local food platforms and other systems were set up to link all types of food producers from primary to local restaurants to local customers for individual and group purchases. we also have a particular emphasis on vulnerable populations particularly old and handicapped people. One of the key issues we are facing is how to better coordinate and scale up the very significant number of local small scale initiatives. One of the key issues is also how to better supply public sector catering due to recent policy initiatives which in theory oblige public bodies to include a certain percentage of standard be sourced products.

I would really like to know if there are other members who are working on similar issues, our aim is not subvert localised systems with tech but more to examine how it can be used to enhance them and to increase access including both B to B and B to C systems.

Thanks for any help ,

Best wishes/Cordialement
