Don't forget that tomorrow, June 19th at 7pm, storyteller Lynn Swanson will present a first-person characterization of Nellie Nielsen, a “Rosie the Riveter” still living today in Cheyenne.
Her story illuminates the many changes and challenges for women of this era, as well as the long-term impact of the war on American society. When America entered World War II, thousands of women responded by moving out of the home and into the industrial workforce. In Wyoming, women became the timekeepers, engine washers, coal shovelers and machinists who kept the trains running for the war effort.
This event is co-sponsored with the Fremont County Library in conjunction with the Wyoming Humanities Council. The event will be held at Rebekah Hall, 321 Washakie Street (behind the temporary library building).
This event is free to the public. For additional information, please contact the museum at 332-3373 or in...@fcpm.org.
Also, make sure to set your alarms for the Pioneer Association yard sale and some great deals on Saturday, June 21st at 8AM!
