Happy Birthday KKFI 90.1FM

Today, KKFI 90.1FM turns 38 years young! On February 28, 1988, the first thing to hit the 90.1FM dial was Bob Dylan's "When the Ship Comes In." And while KKFI has been on the airwaves for 38 years, it took ten years of weekly bingo, lots of meetings, finding a place for the tower and building it, and a Communiversity class based on a little book called "Sex and Broadcasting", which is still in use today, This was achieved through the power of the community and its desire for fair, unbiased media that represented it.

The minute and day the KKFI 90.1FM was live.

Are We On Yet?

KKFI continues to be about the community. The Station is supported and funded by YOU. YOU make KKFI THE Station of Kansas City. Because of YOU and your support, the Kansas City Community and the 80 miles surrounding have access to Jass, to Blues, to Local music, and to the news in your neighborhood. KKFI is THE station of your neighbors, your friends, and your family.

Help celebrate KKFI's 38 years by pledging your support today. Go online at KKFI.ORG to donate and keep KKFI on the air for another 38 years!
