What do you do with students who have exceeded the math program at your
school?

We have two students who will be completing AP Calculus BC this year who
are in need of math classes for next year. In the past, we have worked
with Online School for Girls (but this time they're boys) and Stanford
Online High School (not as good an experience as I'd like, and
expensive!) to cover a year of advanced calculus (Multivariable
Calculus/Differential Equations). I'm exploring a few other options, but
I thought I would pull on this excellent resource as well. Please let me
or the group know what you do.

Also, if you don't cover the class in-house, how do you cover the cost?
Does the school cover the tuition expense or does the family?

Many thanks,
Beth

Hi Beth,
We offer a course (Advanced Calculus and Linear Algebra) in-house for our advanced students. Good luck figuring out the best solution for your school!
Best regards,
Carl

Good morning,

At Tampa Prep, students who complete BC Calculus in junior year are eligible to take the Advanced Calculus and Linear Algebra course that is offered.  We usually have a couple of students that fall into this category each year.

Thanks,
Chrissy

Hi Beth,
We allow our students to take an online advanced math course through CTY John's Hopkins online (we have two doing so this year).  Additionally, students can take an advanced math course or other courses if it is offered through our online consortium, the Hybrid Learning Consortium.  If it is a course that is a graduation requirement but students cannot take for a scheduling reason, we pay for the class.  If it is an elective, we split the cost with the families.
Hope this helps,
Tom
