Dear Randy ... not sure the origin and exact pathway of your email  ... but I received these questions from Ashley Chapman, Head of our Upper School and here is my reply ... I would have sent this reply also to Carl at Tampa Prep but did not see his email so if you wish, please feel free to forward it back to him!

1) Do you plan on giving some form of standardized test to your 9th graders? and (2) If yes, what do you plan to offer?
we too, for years have given our freshman the PLAN .... interesting question what we will do next ... but having done the PSAT at multiple grade levels with less than satisfactory results under grade 10 ... I do NOT expect that we will be doing that! ... I want to know more about ASPIRE before we here at Palmer Trinity make a decision ... what have you heard? ... what are you planning to do?

This situation is equally interesting because we have also given the EXPLORE to our 7th graders ... so wondering if we will use ASPIRE for multiple grade level offerings or not ... do you have a testing schedule for middle school, or are you only high school?

3) Are you happy with this offering? Any comments pro or con? ... I have had a call in to talk to the ASPIRE folks, but so far have not really been impressed with their communication ... actually, what I have experienced is a lack of communication!

Warmly, Jan Tobin

Hi,

The testing coordinator here at Canterbury (bill loughran) is waiting to see if the ASPIRE test is a good alternative test to give the ninth graders when PLAN phases out.  Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Jo
