Upper School Administrator Gathering on October 6

Fellow FCIS Upper School Administrators, You are invited to Tampa Preparatory School on Tuesday, October 6 for a gathering of Upper School Administrators. This is an opportunity to take a break from your routine and to connect with other administrators. Executive Director of FCIS Dr. Barbara Hodges has accepted an invitation to speak to our group about Independent Schools in Florida. Nobody is better positioned to discuss and address important issues facing our schools today.  The second part of the morning program is reserved for any issues of pressing interest for you. If there are any questions or topics you would like to discuss with the group, please pass them along. For example, Tampa Prep is on the verge of a disruptive construction process at and around our campus. Does anyone have experiences they can share, good and bad, that can help us navigate the situation as well as possible for our various constituencies? Another Upper School Director asked about how best to use an Academic Support position that is being created. Virtually any topic that would be helpful to you is fair game. Email me your topic, and I will figure out the best way to put it out to the group. The final portion of the gathering is a late lunch. We will either provide food at Tampa Prep or will find a restaurant near school where we can gather for a meal. This will allow for less formal conversations and networking. The hope is that people will linger and socialize, but there is flexibility to leave at any time.  9:00 - 9:30: Arrival to Tampa Prep and Welcome from Kevin Plummer, Head of School 9:30 - 11:00: Presentation by Barbara Hodges on FCIS Schools, Leadership, and Best Practices followed by Q&A 11:00 - 11:15: Break 11:15 - 12:30: Unconference: Discussion of any agenda items people want to cover, could be in smaller groups 12:30 - 1:00: Tour of Tampa Prep  1:30: Lunch - location and format depends on number of attendees Tuesday, October 6 is about a month away. If you are interested in participating, RSVP to Carl Carlson (ccar...@tampaprep.org) by Tuesday, September 8. If there is sufficient interest, we will go ahead with the program. I just need to know if anyone plans to come from your school along with their name and title. If you have topics you would like to discuss, please feel free to pass those along as well.  I hope many of you will be able to get away for a day to learn, commiserate and socialize with colleagues who are swimming in the same muck.
