Neighborhood Watch News

In an effort to keep our citizens and Communities safer, the Aurora Police Department PAR unit offers free security surveys. We would be more than happy to come to your residence or place of business and suggest ways to make your property a less desirable target to criminals. Taking steps to reduce a criminal’s opportunity lessens the likelihood of becoming a victim in the future. Please contact me with any questions or to set up an appointment.

Welcome to the 25 new members of the NHW program from the Adonea sub-division! Just a reminder, I blind copy everyone so you’re email address is not seen by others. Crime Tip of the Week…

SUMMER SAFETY TIPS FOR ADULTS

Going on vacations? Great enjoy the Mai-Tais and Margaritas!! Want to invite crime into your home? Don’t advertise it on twitter, facebook, instagram, etc…..that you are leaving. The Aurora Police Department recommends that you have a trusted friend/neighbor check on your house on a daily basis. Make sure that friend/neighbor has the non emergency number for dispatch if they suspect a crime has been committed, leave a working phone number of where you ae staying, not just a cell phone number.Lock all windows and doors and consider setting a timer for lights inside the house to go on at certain times of the evening.  Personally, I have the paper and mail delivered while I’m away because it’s two more sets of eyes on my house during the day. Again, have a trusted friend/ neighbor drop by and pick them up and place them inside of the house. If you’re leaving cars at home that are not stored in the garage and don’t have an alarm, lift the hood and remove the coil wire so the car won’t start, or simply disconnect the battery. Don’t leave the coil wire in the car!
