Hello everyone. My name is, Tim Jeffrey, and I am your PAR (Police Area Representative) Officer for Patrol Area 13 and 19. My desk/office phone number is 303-739-6152 and my email is tjef...@auroragov.org. My weekly work schedule is Monday through Thursday 7 am to 5 p.m. If you need to speak with a PAR Officer in my absence please contact Area 12 PAR Officer Jon Carelock at 303-739-6353. Feel free to contact me by phone, or email, with any community policing or PAR related issues.

Every year the Aurora Police department has a “Bid Change”, where Officers bid their shifts and days off for the next year. This year the PAR unit is having a few changes. Many area 13/19 folks know Officer Jon Carelock, the Area 12 PAR Officer. After 5 years Jon is leaving PAR and moving back to patrol. Jon’s dedication and expertise will be sorely missed by all. Officer Dan Iovine will replace Officer Carelock at the “Bid Change” on February 1st. Officer Candice Hanson, the Area 14 PAR Officer, will be temporarily reassigned for the majority of this year and in her place will be Officer Alex Diz. The desk phone numbers for the PAR areas will remain the same. Either Officer Diz or Iovine will cover Area 13/19 in my absence.

In an effort to keep our citizens and Communities safer, the Aurora Police Department PAR unit offers free security surveys. We would be more than happy to come to your residence or place of business and suggest ways to make your property a less desirable target to criminals. Taking steps to reduce a criminal’s opportunity lessens the likelihood of becoming a victim in the future. Please contact me with any questions or to set up an appointment.
Neighborhood Watch Meetings…
Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling a Neighborhood Watch meeting in your area.
Crime Tip of the Week… SUPERBOWL PARTIES
Well, that time has come. This Sunday the Broncos take on the Seachickens, um, Seahawks in Super Bowl 48. Many of you will be attending Super Bowl parties away from home. In doing so, remember to lock all windows and doors before you leave. Shut the blinds and draw the curtains. Leave the TV on and a light on in the room that you normally watch TV.
The bad guys are going to be driving around looking for homes that are “blacked out” to break into. Chances are your neighbors, those that aren’t going to any parties, are going to be glued to the TV and not paying attention to what’s going on outside of their own home.

There was an obvious increase in residential burglaries for the reporting period.. Please remember to remove the garage door remote from your vehicles when you park them outside of your house. The bad guys are getting into the cars, using the remotes to get into the garage and then breaking into the house from the garage door.
There were over 101 traffic related calls (traffic stops) during the week, not including traffic accidents and abandoned/towed vehicles. In addition to patrol and PAR’s traffic calls, the MET and STEP Units (motorcycle guys) issue 10-15 tickets daily that don't get documented. If you see an abandoned, or illegally parked vehicle, parked on a CITY STREET, please call dispatch with the plate and location of the vehicle.

There has been an increase in car break-ins in the city, fortunately our area has been spared from the increase. Remember to remove anything of value from your vehicles when shopping or at home. Remove your garage door opener remotes. Lock your doors! If you have outside lights, make sure they work and leave them on at night. Report anything that appears suspicious and call the Police either by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at 303-627-3100.
