APD NEWS
The District 2 PAR unit has undergone another supervisory change with Sergeant Mike Hanifin being transferred to another unit and new Sgt. John Wilton being assigned to the PAR Team. There should be an announcement from the Aurora City Manager's Officer this week regarding the appointment of a new Chief of Police for APD.
During the month of December the District 2 PAR unit worked 4 special details for the holidays, participated in the THIN BLUE LINE event to children's Hospital
and delivered over 1800 gifts to needy children in Aurora and over 300 holiday meals to families. Additionally, the PAR team and BIG (Burglary Intervention Group) conducted a Burglary suspect round up just before Christmas day and arrested 17 juveniles and
adults responsible for approximately 75% of the District 2 burglaries.

Golden opportunities: what do carjackers look for?
The "Bump and Rob"
It works like this. A car, usually with a driver and at least one passenger, rear-ends or "bumps" you in traffic. You quickly get out to check the damage and exchange information. Either the driver or one of the passengers jumps in your car and drives off.
