Hello Kapwa Educators,
We are a growing network (almost 50 of us now since 2021)! We welcome our newest members who joined since the last email update at the end of last school year. Looking forward to connecting with all of you!
Connections and Directions
To start the new school year, let's meet up to connect and talk about ongoing and new projects of interest. As we have more members, we have even greater capacity for action and more experience/knowledge to draw on!
Date: November 2nd, 2022 at 7 PM ET
Where: Kumospace (it allows for a more flexible space for networking and conversation than Zoom does)
Filipino Advisory Committee: TCDSB Happenings
If you are a member of the TCDSB community, check out the next meeting that is happening via Zoom on
Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 PM EST. This is open to all community members. Email

Kapwa Pedagogy Literature Circle
We're starting up again! Save the date for our next discussion on November 30, 2022 at 7 pm ET.
Our next article is Roland Sintos Coloma's (2012) paper, "Abject Beings: Filipina/os in Canadian Historical Narrations". Coloma analyzes twelve Canadian history texts and discusses how Filipina/os are represented. The article is 20 pages long, including works cited so give it a read as a whole or in part only if you have limited time and bring what jumps out at you.
Article is available here.
