From Georgia Conflict Center (and Interfaith Clery Partnership of Greater Athens):

The Georgia Conflict Center is inviting you to participate in an upcoming 3-part series of community conversations entitled: Reflect. Reckon. Rebuild.

This program proposes a series of three (3) community conversations that seek to engage and activate the local Athens-area community with regards to the impact of criminal justice involvement and the pursuit of more just and equitable ways of dealing with harm and wrongdoing.

GCC will utilize the Peacemaking Circle Process as a tool for promoting democratic dialogue, truth-telling and collective action, particularly prioritizing underrepresented stories and experiences.

The first community conversation: Reflect, will take place on Saturday February 22nd, 2025 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens (UUFA) 780 Timothy Rd Athens, GA 30606 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

We also invite you to bring an item that is symbolic of the impacts of the criminal legal system on you, your family, or your community.

Here is a link for you to register participation in this event, and a flyer is attached.

Feel free to share both with other community members who would like to participate in this conversation.

LAND, LABOR, and LIFE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I acknowledge unceded and sovereign Indigenous territory of Muscogee-Creek, Cherokee, and Chickasaw Peoples upon which I work and live and the impact of colonization and historical trauma on Indigenous peoples. Further I acknowledge the enslaved peoples, primarily of African descent, whose labor built much of the community I call home and whose lives were and continue to be impacted by the legacy of enslavement, historical trauma, and structural oppression. I stand in solidarity.

Love & truth, agape & satyagraha,
Tim
