I've encountered a number of problems with FBReaderJ. At this point
it's unusable because of the problems.

1, The default Books folder is installed on a partition that users
can't access (at least, not on the Archos 5).

2, FBReaderJ can't find the ebooks on my SD card, no matter which
folder I put them in.

3, I can't change the library folder, so I can't fix the first 2
problems, and I can't add any ebooks to my Archos.

If you want more feedback, please let me know.

Hi,

What is the name of SD card directory on your device?

Best,

Hi,

According to the file manager, it's "SD Card". Sorry about the delay.

The Archos 5 is different in that it has a SSD drive as its primary
drive and a microSD card slot. Since Android only allows one
"sdcard", what they have done is place the SSD at /sdcard and the
microSD Card at /sdcard/sdcard. So the answer is /sdcard/sdcard

Hi.
Change USB Connection Mode to Mass Storage Connection (MSC). Check
this at (Menu > Settings > Device Storage & USB connection > USB
connection mode.
You may need to format drive. If so, unplug Archos, it will create all
necessary folders automatically. Then start FBReaderJ to create Books
folder. Then connect Archos to PC, in MSC mode Books folder is
accessable via PC.
On my Archos it works perfect.

Hi.
You can set USB Connection Mode to Mass Storage Connection (MSC). Then
connect Archos to PC. You may need to format new drive. If so,unplug
Archos, it will create all necessary folders, also start FBReader, it
will create Books folder. Now you can connect Archos to PC, in MSC
mode Books folder is visible via PC. Hope it helps, on my Archos it
works perfect

Hi,

I am also having problems with FBReader. Though I am using an Android
phone (Samsung i7500), I think the problem is also similar to that
discussed in this thread.

I can read a book by clicking on a link (file with .fb2 extension) in
a web page (my own web server). When I mount the SD card (shown as H:
drive), I see a copy of the file in folder H:\Books\[domain name]

However when I copy another file to H:\Books it cannot be read. The
Library shows no books (even the downloaded book is gone).

Hi,

Maybe the problem is in files you copy to the device? Could you please
send me a sample problem file? (geom...@fbreader.org)

Regards,

Thanks Nicolay. I used another computer and it works.

But there is a new problem. If the file is in Chinese the text won't
wrap (so for a long time, part of it cannot be read). For English and
French the text can wrap.

Anybody has a similar problem? I am using Samsung i7500 Android 1.5
cupcake.
